2019ARTWRK003 - Titled "Backoff Wolf"

The Story of the Drawing:

I have always had a fascination with wolves, so mysterious and dominant - the ultimate predator. This artwork is based on a photo I took many years ago in Wyoming. We had several wolves on an elk carcass, and during that photo opportunity there was lots of interaction between the wolves. Who should eat first, who should eat what, fight over dominance and pack order - it was awesome. This art is based on that sequence of photos and the wolf is actually protecting its small space on the carcass.

Since our semi retirement, I have had a lot of inspiration to more art, both in the painting and drawing categories as well as the wood burning art and carvings we do. I January I had the vision of creating a wildlife color series with the grunge edge effects and blending I love so much in most of my art.

It was created on a computer using digital painting techniques and tools. The main items being Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter and Wacom drawing tablet. Part of the elements were hand drawn using traditional Pen and Ink Techniques which were scanned back into a computer for inclusion in the art
