I get asked quite often to take a photo and convert it into a digitally painted version. Sometimes this requires a bit of imagination as people often have objects in their favorite photos they don't want in the art version.
I paint the paintings in a program called Corel Painter and I use a Wacom tablet to give me the look and feel of real brush strokes. It is in effect the same as painting in a manner except it is done using digital tools and equipment.
We also take a lot of our photos and convert them into what we like to call "Photo To Art"

This painting was created from photos in our wolf collection used as reference images. I love wolves and wanted to create this painting for my own personal use.
We painted this image from a photo and printed it on canvas as wedding gift to a customer.
